SEATTLE’S NEWEST FESTIVAL RETURNS WITH EXTRA DAY, NEW VENUES, SHARED COVER CHARGE, AND COMMUNITY FOCUS

Pioneer Square Market Network is excited to announce Pioneer Square Fest, the Second Annual Pioneer Square Summer Market and Music Festival. The festival will take place over two days, Friday, July 5th, and Saturday, July 6th, in the heart of Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square. Thanks to continued support from the Pioneer Square Business Improvement Area (BIA) Inspiration Fund, Occidental Square’s Martin Smith, Inc. and Rubicon Point Partners, owners of Uncommon Co-Working space in the Masin Block, this year’s festival promises to be bigger and better, emphasizing community engagement and local talent.

Origins and Mission: A Festival Born from Community Spirit

Pioneer Square Fest originated from a desire to breathe new life into Seattle’s oldest neighborhood, which has faced economic challenges in recent years. The Pioneer Square Market Network, the organizing body behind the festival, is dedicated to connecting artists and musicians with performance and vending opportunities in Pioneer Square. The idea for the festival was conceived during the pandemic when it became clear that Pioneer Square needed a revitalizing community event to bring people together and support local businesses. Up until now, Pioneer Square was the only neighborhood that didn’t have a block party of its own and hadn’t hosted a festival since Paul Allen’s Upstream Music Festival ended in 2019.

Exciting New Additions and Community Impact

This year’s festival features two exciting new Pioneer Square venues: Baba Yaga, a new rock club that will feature two stages (by the end of summer, one stage for the event), great food, and fantastic sound, and Golden Roosters, a new Korean Fried Chicken themed restaurant with a Speak-Easy bar in back and  a secret club in the basement. Additionally, Central Saloon, Seattle’s oldest bar (Est. 1892) known for being the hangout of such legendary acts as Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, and Soundgarden, joins the festival as a key venue.

Pioneer Square Fest is proud to highlight these establishments and bring attention to their contributions to the local music and dining scene.

Key Features: Free Concert and Shared Cover Charge

While the all day concert in Occidental Square remains free to everyone, festival wristband holders will enjoy significant benefits. Wristband holders can bypass door charges at participating venues and receive food and drink discounts at local establishments throughout the festival. This initiative encourages visitors to explore and support Pioneer Square’s vibrant businesses.
